Sharing Your Calendar
You can invite people to individual events on your personal Calendar -- the
Calendar with your Screen Name, share your entire Calendar so that specified
people can view or edit it, or you can publish your Calendar to the world.
To invite people to a particular event on your Calendar, see Inviting
Friends and Family to an Event. You can only invite people who have a Screen
Name, in other words email addresses that end in @aol.com. (Free AOL
Screen Names are available by going to www.aol.co.uk and clicking Sign On.)
To publish your Calendar so that anyone can see it, including those without
AOL Screen Names, for example an email address ending in @yahoo.com,
see Publishing Your Calendar as a Public Web Page. When
you publish to the world, anyone with Internet access can view your published
Calendar.
To share your entire Calendar so that others can view or edit it:
- Click the Sharing button that appears at the bottom of
the
Calendars list, to the left of your Calendar view. The Share Your
Calendar screen appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a list of Screen Names with whom you want your Calendar shared, and to designate whether
you want that person to view your Calendar or to view and edit it.
Important: When you give Edit permissions, you grant that
person full control of your Calendar. Be sure to give Edit permissions
only to those who you fully trust to create, edit, and delete events on
your Calendar.
- After you finish designating who you want to share your Calendar
with, click the Share button. Calendar sends an email to
each of the Screen Names you listed, with information on how to view
your Calendar.
Calendar sends an email to each of the Screen Names you invited to
share your Calendar, informing them that your Calendar is available to
them, and giving them a link that they can click to add your Calendar
to their Calendars list. You also receive a confirmation email that
lists all the Screen Names with whom you have shared your Calendar.
Notes
- You can only share Calendars that you create. You can't share
Calendars that were created by others that appear on your Calendars
list.
- You can only share your Calendar with people who have AOL Screen Names,
you can't share your Calendar with Internet email addresses. (Free AOL Screen

Viewing and Subscribing to Other Calendars
To view additional Calendars that already appear on your Calendars
list, see Working
with Multiple Calendars.
If you want to view a Calendar that doesn't appear on your Calendars
list, you need to subscribe to that Calendar. You can subscribe to
publicly-available Calendars through the Event Directory; for details,
see Using
the Event Directory.
Another way to view other Calendars is to subscribe to Calendars
that family and friends share with you. You receive email when others
invite you to subscribe to a calender.
To subscribe to a Calendar:
- Open the email message that has Invitation to Calendar in
the Subject.
- Click the Subscribe Now link that appears in the body of
the message. The subscribed Calendar appears in the Calendars list,
and events on the subscribed Calendar appear in the Calendar view.

view. You can re-display a subscribed Calendar by clicking the check
box to select it.
Table

Working with Multiple Calendars
You can view multiple Calendars, either one at a time or in
combination, enabling you to coordinate schedules and stay on top of
friends' and family plans.
To view multiple Calendars simultaneously, so that the combined schedules
appear on a single Calendar:
- To the left of your Calendar view, under the Calendars heading, click
one or more of the check boxes next to the Calendar names that you wish to
display. If the only Calendar on the Calendars list is the one with your Screen
Name, see Viewing
and Subscribing to Other Calendars for information on adding Calendars
to the list.
- Click the Month, Week, or Day tab to display the desired
Calendar view. All the events on the Calendars you've selected appear within
the single Calendar view.
Notes
You can tell the various Calendar entries apart by the colour coding;
the colour on the Calendars list matches the colour of the associated
events. To change the colour-coding of Calendars, see Changing
Calendar Colours.

Copying Events from Other Calendars to Your
Calendar
You can copy events from other Calendars to your personal Calendar.
Your personal Calendar is the Calendar with your Screen Name.
To view other Calendars, check the Calendars list in the upper left
corner of your AOL Calendar screen. Calendars to which you are
subscribed appear on this list, with a check box next to each. If the
only Calendar on this list is the one with your Screen Name, see Viewing
and Subscribing to Other Calendars for information on subscribing
to additional Calendars, then follow the steps below.
To copy events from other Calendars to yours
- On the Calendars list, click the check box next to the Calendar that
contains the event that you want to add to your personal Calendar. Events
scheduled on the subscribed Calendar appear on your Calendar view.
- Click the event that you want to add to your Calendar. The
View an Event screen appears.
- Click Copy to Personal Calendar. The event appears on
your Calendar, in the colour of your Calendar.
Notes
- If the owner of a Calendar from which you copied an event later makes changes
to the event, those changes don't appear on your Calendar. To have the event
appear on your Calendar and to receive updates regarding changes, contact
the owner of the Calendar and ask them to invite you through the Tell a
Friend link on the event. When you accept a Calendar invitation from owner
of an event, you automatically receive email notifications any time the Calendar
owner edits or updates the event.
- The check box next to the Calendar names on the Calendars list
determines which Calendars display. To verify that the copied event
appears correctly on your Calendar, clear all the Calendar check boxes
except for your personal Calendar so that the only events that appear
are those on your personal Calendar. Your personal Calendar is the
Calendar with your Screen Name.
- The colour of the Calendar name on the Calendars list matches the
colour of events on that Calendar, so when viewing multiple Calendars
you can determine which events belong to each Calendar.

Notes
- Make sure that you allow enough lead time to receive your
reminder at the desired time. For instance, if you want to receive a
reminder two hours before an event, you must make your request more
than two hours before the event, and leave some extra time for your
request to be received and processed. AOL Calendar and its respective
functions are not a service for events deemed to be life-critical --
for example, medicine-taking -- and should not be treated as such.
- Mobile networks may charge additional fees for Reminders sent to mobile
phones. For details, check with your mobile network provider.
- The default reminder delivery -- Instant Messenger, mobile phone, or email
-- is determined by the preference settings in the AOL Alerts and Reminders

the change applies to that event only. To change default delivery options
for all your reminders, go to AOL Keyword: Alerts & Reminders and
click Preferences.

Not Receiving Event Updates
If you are not receiving updates to events on your Calendar, it may
be because you copied an event from another Calendar. When you copy
events, any changes made by the owner of the event will not appear on
your Calendar.
To have the event appear on your Calendar and to receive updates regarding
changes, contact the owner of the Calendar and ask them to invite you through
the Tell a Friend link on the event. When you accept a Calendar invitation
from owner of an event, you automatically receive email notifications any time
the Calendar owner edits or updates the event.
If the owner of the Calendar previously invited you to an event,
they need to delete you from their list of Screen Names and email
addresses on the Tell A Friend screen, then re-enter your Screen Name
or email address in order to re-send the invitation to you.
